This idea was pitched before the NBA Finals started, while the Lion King trailers were going viral all over the internet. I felt the Mufasa narration was a perfect fit to illustrate the Warriors being dethroned as the kings of the NBA. The rough cut was passed up to the top executives at Disney who green lit it. Unfortunately, James Earl Jones’ people did not give permission to use his voice, so it never made air.
